So, thanks to tumblr, I'm sitting here writing this sad Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch + Charles/Raven story, w/e, sad, contemplative story is sad and contemplative. Headed back over to the dashboard for, idk, more pictures of James McAvoy's eyes or gifs of Michael Fassbender's wang or videos of red pandas playing or what have you. Scrolling, scrolling-

I feel like I can't even squee at this point, because there are no words. I squeed so hard watching it that my throat literally hurt afterwards.

Holy mother of god.

Okay, okay, I have other things to post about, but it's late, they're long, and they have to go under flock. So instead here are two short, amusing notes:

1. I want to write the story of Magento, the fabulous alternate universe Magneto, so very hard, you guys. You have NO idea. Unfortunately, nobody thinks it's hilarious but me. You just don't know, y'all.

2. OMG I have a glorious [ profile] gyakusai_swap present! Go very quickly here and see the absolutely glorious Pearl and Maya art that [ profile] cannedebonbon made for me. It is completely lovely and must be appreciated forthwith.

OKAY I AM SLEEPING NOW. Because tomorrow is for writing for exchanges and poss. making the house not look like a bomb went off in it (unlikely). <3 <3 <3

1. Dear most depressing Charles/Erik story that ever was depressing,

Your presence is not welcome here. You are at least six thousand words long but, I suspect, closer to ten. There is something very wrong with the fact that you are associated with a terrifically sad Everclear song, which is just indicative of how much I really do not need to write you.

You are long and you are sad and I do not know how you end but I know it will be tragic.

Kindly GTFO my brain at once; if you cannot, we do request that you STFU at your earliest convenience.

No love,

2. Dear [ profile] gyakusai_swap story,

Where are you? :( I love you, please come to me. Do you even know how sad I will be if I do not post you before your opposite number is posted?

I love you. Let me love you.

Please, please, please,

3. Dear everyone,

You will be receiving New Year's cards from me; think about how much more sweet waiting will make them.

Belatedly yours,

As I was typing this entry, a package came unto me (and I had to have that awkward, "Hey, [real name], are you expecting a package for someone, last name Gordon?" conversation with the security guard), and lo, it was my Secret Pals present! It is the most awesome and epic; all others may go home and try it again, for nothing could be better.

This is how it makes me feel: ASOIFHPSOIFJPAIEKJFASEJAJ'ASF;

Yes. Joyous pictures to follow.

1. If I could be anyone in the world, I would be T-Pain.

Cee Lo is, of course, a close second.

2. I'm feeling really low energy lately, particularly when it comes to fandom stuff. I'm half a season behind on Doctor Who, a season behind on Community, I haven't started Snuff or finished Ghost Story (and I am unspoiled for all these things but Community, so shhhh), I'm barely writing, and I just don't want to deal with any of it. It seems like work right now, and that's not right. I'm not going to make myself work to have fun.

All I seem to have energy for is non-fiction (non-fiction pleasure reading takes a lot less out of me than fiction, which I understand is somewhat strange) and craft-type projects. I made a nice shawl and drafted a cross stitch pattern, and I've been reading all kinds of books about paganism and kink. I finally, now that I have a driver's license for the state I actually live in, got a public library card, and it is very nice.

3. In that theme, however, I did watch Shut Up Little Man!, which is really something. It's playing up at my beloved local arthouse theatre (which also houses Rifftrax Live. You are jealous.), but it's playing during GMX, so I thought I'd miss it. But! It's on Comcast On Demand, so I merrily cross stitched and watched it from the comfort of my couch.

I strongly recommend it, if you don't mind rather a lot of obscenity and homophobia (from the subjects, not the filmmakers). It's funny and a little disturbing in places, and it raises some really interesting questions about privacy, art, and identity (without giving easy answers to any of them).

4. This just in: a fine piece of Phoenix/Edgeworth epistolary comment porn from [personal profile] valentinite. Absolutely delicious.

Rating/Contents: R, post GS4
Pairing: Miles/Phoenix
Size/Length: 7.5 mb; 08:12

Pairing: Eames/Ariadne, Arthur/Eames/Ariadne
Size/Length: 9.7 mb; 10:34

I was gonna say some stuff, but instead I spent all day playing Ace Attorney games. Y'all, I'm talking like all day, from about 2 this afternoon to about an hour ago.

I started with the last case of Investigations, which, y'all, is REALLY LONG. The vaguest of vague spoilers )

From there, I played 1-2 and most of 1-3 (1-1 was yesterday). Y'all, I miss these games and this fandom so much. I love my weird little lawyers. They do my heart so much good. I love all their little faces, and their questionable grasp of made-up law, and their silly little puns, and YOU GUYS I LOVE THEM SO. It is rare for me to go back to an old fandom and still be as in love with it as when I left.

Oh, Phoenix. Oh, Edgeworth. <3

(Shameless plugging: I've been reposting some really old (like, PW Kink Meme pt. 1 old) GS stuff at the AO3, if you would like a blast from the past (and if you haven't seen it, it's new to you).

And hey, while they're still time, you can bid on me for [community profile] help_japan! I will even write you a Phoenix Wright story!)

So, I was looking for something special to do for 10/10/10, because, I mean, we won't get another date like that (except 11/11/11 and 12/12/12), and [personal profile] shadowen suggested that I write ten ficlets in ten fandoms, ten words each. So I did, and I encourage you to do so as well!

Fandoms: Inception, Venture Bros, Mythbusters, Dresden Files, Phoenix Wright, Stargate Atlantis, House MD, NCIS, Cowboy Bebop, and Blake's 7; very, very vague spoilers for Cowboy Bebop, Blake's 7, and Venture Bros.

Title: Next Best Thing
Summary: Edgeworth finds exactly what he's looking for.
Fandom: Phoenix Wright/Stargate: Atlantis
Word Count: 2195
Rating/Contents: NC-17, rough sex, angst, questionable decisions
Timeline: Present day: post series (SGA); 2 years before State v. Fawles (GS). I feel like I should point out that Edgeworth is 18.
Pairing: Miles Edgeworth/John Sheppard, mentions of other pairings
A/N: Here it is, the crossover I have been threatening for, like, a billion years. It started with Joe Flanigan's post-SGA beard. I kept looking at him and thinking, "I don't know why everybody else thinks this is so hot. He looks like a hobo," which quickly lead to "HOLY SHIT, if you put a hoodie on him he could be hobo!Phoenix!" And so this happened. Very slowly.
Further A/N: No, I did not notice Miles got into an elevator until just now. Yes, I do need to review my canon. Eesh.

1. Is it weird that Comedy Central's current commercials personally offend me? I mean, obviously it wouldn't be weird if they were offensive, but what's pissing me off is that they keep advertising Demetri Martin and Sarah Silverman together. And whereas Demetri Martin is a precious little elfin creature who is made of adorable and hilarious, Sarah Silverman is one of the most painfully unfunny people ever to be on the television. It pisses me off to hear them mentioned in the same advertisement!

No ads for Sarah Silverman are allowed during Assassins Anonymous. JSYK.

2. Okay, so, you have to help me and [ profile] arymabeth out. So, we both have this vague memory of a scene from a (probably animated) TV show. These two guys are talking about a TV show ETA: (it would be helpful if I mentioned that the TV show in question was just a recording of shoes in a tumble dryer), and they have this exchange:

Guy 1: People actually watch this?
Guy 2: They don't just watch it. They send it money!

Anybody have any idea what we're talking about?

3. It may interest you to note that the DVR is mocking me. Ever since the last software update, the triple speed fast-forward, when you hit play, now goes about a minute backwards before it starts playback. I feel like it's mocking me. It's all "YOU MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME. GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN."

4. Dear flist: What do you think about this White Collar program I keep hearing so much about? Would I like it, do you think?

5. YOU GUYS. GYAKUTEN KENJI COMES OUT ON TUESDAY. OMG OMG OMG. Until then I will be mainlining NCIS and Blake's 7. And maybe writing the summary for 2.01 of Assassins Anonymous. Or maybe writing a Strange Brew crossover? IDK, IDK.

1. So I was reading a post-DADT fic. And I didn't like it very much, because Keller and John were fighting over Rodney, and John was acting like a sex kitten (which I have no problems with, but the story was too serious for it to work) and Keller was acting like a raging hosebeast to John. And I was thinking, "Damn, author, I know nobody liked her, but give the poor woman more credit than that."

And then it occurred to me that it was exactly how Keller would have reacted to the situation in canon.

And then I felt sad.

I really want fandom to fix Keller for me, because I never wanted to hate her. It just doesn't feel right to hate Jewel Staite. I really want her to be what she was obviously meant to be, and what she could have been if she'd been introduced three seasons earlier before the writing got so fucking ham-fisted.

2. Also? I want to read a post-DADT fic where John and Rodney come out, and everybody's being dicks to Rodney, and he thinks it's because they're all a bunch of dirty homophobes, but it turns out they're just pissed he stole John away before anybody else could.

3. I need Gyakuten Kenji, like, yesterday.

4. My little brother was in town when I went home last week, so I finally got to show him Jason Momoa and express that they look just alike (if my brother were a hundred pounds lighter and Hawaiian). I don't think he bought it, but I think he was secretly pleased, especially because he's dreading his hair at the moment (and it looks fucking AWFUL, but dreads take a long time).

(This is why I can't write Ronon porn.)

5. I started, like, three stories yesterday, and then couldn't bring any of them home. Hopefully today. The world needs Edgeworth/Sheppard.
sabinelagrande: (sga - we're cool like that)
Apropos of nothing, here are a few pictures I took with my cell phone and forgot to post.

Who's got two thumbs and is a total geek? )

[ profile] arymabeth and I are having a fantabulous weekend, even though we, uh, never actually made it to the con, us being way too goddamned lazy and the highway being partially closed. I have thoroughly corrupted her to the cause of SGA (Ronon gives her a little bit of a situation, it's true), just as I am slowly corrupting everyone I know.

Too bad I can't be this effective for shows that are actually, y'know, still on the air. Whatever, we're keeping the home fires burning.

And I may go to Dragon*Con? Because I was kinda halfway planning to anyway, because I've been trying to go for years and it's never worked out. But now it's only four hours away, and I don't have a broken foot this year. But dude, seriously? Why is Dragon*Con more expensive than SDCC (for which I need to buy my plane ticket today)?

And I absolutely defy you not to giggle, at least just a little.

2. If you like SGA fic and you haven't read The Hard Prayer yet, you're doin it wrong.

3. Where does the phrase “come look at my etchings” come from? Am I going to be really spectacularly embarrassed that I don't know? Son of ETA: Nvm, I looked it up. I had thought it was a movie quote I was missing, but apparently it's just, like, something people say. I must co-opt it now.

4. I am very, very lazy. Am going to fail out of graduate school because I hate theory, woe, woe woe. Fear my melodrama.

5. So much fic to finish. Working on next Disclosureverse chapter (no, I haven't forgotten), wherein there is rather a large quantity of sad!Phoenix. Unless it's narrated by Apollo? Possibly resuming [ profile] fluff_friday this week- but that's dependent on whether I get all of the stuff related to #4 done or not.
