Notes from the fandom(s)

JKR and Pterry being at odds* is like having your parents fighting: you don't know which side to take, but you just wish it would stop.

He's right; the media has overhyped her at the expense of other authors. But it's not her fault that the media can't get enough of her, and clearly the interviewer's the one who made her (and moreso himself) sound like an ass.

I hate how smug and superior the Pratchett fen are acting, and I hate how childish the HP fen are acting. And I love Neil Gaiman so much.

*Well, it's not even that, cause JKR hasn't responded.

But anyway, enough about fandom. I'm sitting here, bored and alone in Oxford. Rec me something. Something you wrote (particularly if you wrote it/started it during June), something you like a lot, something that's so bad it's good, anything.

Ask and ye shall recieve. I started this around June-ish.

And I totally agree on PTerry and JKR thing. It's really weird. Though what I, personally, find the most amusing is that a lot of HP brats claim that Pratchett is attacking JK because he's a no name who's jealous of JK's sucess and money.

Yes. Because PTerry is a copmlete unknown who no one has ever heard of. At all. There are abolutely no stage versions of his books, nor are there three video games made off of his work. Absolutely non-existant.

Oh, his name is only on one out of every hundred books sold in the UK. That's practically nothing. ::snerk::

And you seem to have linked me to your preview page, rather than the story, which is no good.

*just figured out the joke in your icon*

Hmm, that's no good. Let's see if we can fix that.

I dunno, it looked more to me like Pterry was complaining about the way in which the newsmedia cover Rowling. (And I must admit, Rowling claiming she didn't know she was writing fantasy does sound a bit daft to me.)

I definitely agree. I don't think he's trying to say that it's her fault either; the BBC tried to say that for him.

That thing about not knowing she was writing fantasy has to have been taken out of context. I mean, I can understand not setting out to write "typical" fantasy and ending up with it, but you'd think it would become apparent to you somewhere in there.

Well if you're interested in three chapters of Walter x Seras smut, I wrote this in June:

NC-17, Cross-gen het, etc.

Secrets (http://adultfan.nexcess.net/aff/story.php?no=544188302)

I see people losing interest in the TV animeverse even more now that the OVA is coming out and the manga is so dramatic. I insist on still writing in it though, to make my crack pairings work ;_;

Pssh, when have I ever not been interested in Walter x Seras smut? I have a soft spot in my heart for old!animeverse. ^_^

^_^ I signed up for Integral x Maxwell at [livejournal.com profile] 30_romances (as if I needed something more to do...) so I'll be writing in a mixture there.

This explains it far better than I could. There's also a second and third reply from Pterry. Check The Leaky Cauldron for those.
