This may be of interest to [livejournal.com profile] leiascully, [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero, [livejournal.com profile] zhukora1, [livejournal.com profile] commodoremarie, [livejournal.com profile] solarwind, [livejournal.com profile] readiness, and anybody going to SDCC or Dragon*Con.

...I find it inexplicably amusing that those are the two most convenient cons for me to go to. I guess I'm technically just as close to Chicago Comic-Con as to Dragon*Con, but I'll still be in California then.

May 11: Road trip!
Going to see Stones River and Parkin and Shiloh (possibly I will swing up to LIBO as well?) and all the many parks between here and [livejournal.com profile] leiascully/[livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero's house. Then a couple days with them, and back down to Jackson for a week or so.

Status:
Very much a whenever we get there we get there kind of a trip. Possibly there will be some camping involved, but I shouldn't have any problem finding sites midweek pre-Memorial Day.

July 4 - August 13: LSA Institute, UC Berkeley.

Status:
-Registered for the institute, have given them a very large chunk of my hard-earned money.
-Have to book the plane with my free voucher from Comic-Con '08; have to actually call them on the phone and speak to a real human person. Woe.
-Put in an application to live at International House; haven't heard back yet. No reason to think I shouldn't get it, though.

July 23-26: OMG SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON YEY

Status:
-4 Day pass bought (several weeks ago)
-Plane ticket bought; I will be arriving ~9AM on Thursday and leaving at 3 on Sunday.
-Costumes not yet planned. Whatever I'm doing has to get done between mid-May and July. Definitely an Atlantis science uniform (S1-3, probably command grey), probably some cyberpunk. Possibly the Question again, because it travels really well and looks good (and I have some thoughts to make it better); however, it was kind of a pain in the ass. Definitely not going for the full face mask on Saturday.

September 4-7: Dragon*Con, what? Hotlanta, GA

Status:
-Haven't bought my membership yet; am I correct in thinking that it's an all-or-nothing with them?
-No plane ticket necessary! Atlanta is only 4 hours away!
-Scheduling's a little up in the air; it can be, though, because I'm driving. I also don't know- when does stuff get started on Friday at D*C? Do people show up on Thursday night, or should I leave after my 10AM class? I can't stay Monday, because we don't get Labor Day off around here, so I'd leave late on Sunday night.
-Probably same costumes as Comic-Con; however, I might can do Valant? Cause the biggest problem with that costume (other than the jacket) was that it doesn't travel well. Again, essentially needs to be done before LSA starts. I sort of think we need a frakkin BSG group. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
-Where are you staying, fangirls? Cause now is the time to make hotel arrangements, and I haven't got any yet.

1. OMG YOU ARE GOING TO BE HERE IN MAY. YES.

2. You KNOW we need a huge frakking BSG group. Is it legit if I come as a character from the Space Epic? Because then I could be Wren Adama and wear a suit + sexy boots + a HUGE (fake) diamond ring. LOL.

3. Also, I'm trying to convince everyone that we desperately need to put in a huge group order for my "Ain't No Party Like a Fangirl Party, 'cause a Fangirl Party Don't Stop" t-shirts. THEY ARE SASSY. ALSO PROFESSIONALLY DONE WHICH = THEY WILL LAST LONGER AND I DON'T HAVE A LIVING ROOM FLOOR COVERED WITH STENCILS AND PAINT.

4. I think we're gonna try Priceline for a hotel? I don't know. I've had incredible luck with them in the past [$40/night for a $90+ room, HELL FUCKING YEAH), so I feel good about it. I think [livejournal.com profile] ninamazing was still looking for a roommate? And she's press, so, maybe she could entice some famous folks to come back to your room and PARTY (READ: SEXYTIMES).

Woo! Teh costumes! I may be a little too distracted by life/poor to do much costuming this time round (details to follow), but we shall see, we shall see.... *evil finger waggle*

Also, if [livejournal.com profile] solarwind is up for it again, we should drag you with us to Old Town SD on one of the days to lunch at the place where they serve margaritas the size of your face. NOM.

Ohh, I'm game. NOM.

[identity profile] leiascully.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
01. OMG YAY.
02. WE WILL BE A MASS OF FANGIRLS. IT WILL BE AMAZING.
03. Who needs a costume when they have a T-SHIRT? Trousers optional.
04. We are working on accommodations for Atlanta as well! It's tough. D*C is SRS BIZNESS APPARENTLY.

These points concord with [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero's.

Guh, ONE OF THESE YEARS I will be able to go to D*C. Of that chance you get, I iz jealous.
