DAY FOURTEEN: RECIPE FOR TURNABOUT
or, Dear 1337aZnPrInceSz…

Defense Attorney: Phoenix Wright
Side Bar: Maya Fey
Prosecutor: Godot
Defendant: Maggey Byrde
Victim: Glen Elg
Play Time: 3 hours, 32 min.

Sorry I'm late again- Professor Layton came in the mail, and I was struck down by its OMG PRITTYness.

Oh, and before we get started, one note on the last case- does anybody know how the AMI/I AM sacred urn puzzle works out in the Japanese version? Is it in Latin characters as well, or is it in kana?

But anyway-

Maggey: I'm gonna stay up all night and blog about everything that happened!

This case has a really great opening. I think opening with watching yourself lose a trial without having the power to stop it is quite catchy. It really gets you excited to go and kick somebody's ass… but then getting into the case itself is a bit slow. It would have been more effective if the pace of the beginning of the first investigation were picked up a bit, but I don't really know how you could accomplish it.

I think my favorite thing about this case is the music. I quite like Xin Eoph Tigre's theme, as well as Victor Kudo's, even though the Trés Bien music kind of sets my teeth on edge.

Speaking of setting my teeth on edge, what was up with all that Judge/Armstrong in trial two? That's downright unsettlin'.

But, before we go any further, let us discuss the most important facet of this case: how overwhelmingly gay I am for Lisa Basil. She has boobs, a nice suit, and technology. Those are like my three favorite things!

Speaking of boobs, hello, Mia in a waitress costume! Fanservice off the port bow!

I don't really know what to say about this case. It's more over-the-top than I usually like, and that's really saying something where Phoenix Wright is concerned. I'm a big fan of the minor characters in this case, particularly Viola and Lisa (as previously discussed).

No metaplot, once again, though a couple of facts about Godot come to light that are terrifically important in later cases.

It's hard to talk about this case without talking about Gumshoe/Maggey. It's so devastatingly cute, and I do support the pairing in canon, but the first time I played through this case, it honestly made me feel like a bad fan. I was just getting into Franziska/Gumshoe, and I didn't want to see Maggey breaking them up. It's the first time I've ever felt bad that I didn't favor a canon pairing. Ever. WTF, Capcom.

But then Fran/Gumshoe came back with somewhat of a vengeance in 3-5, but that's for another day.

Tomorrow, YEY EDGEWORTH! And now~

Top Three Reasons To Play Recipe for Turnabout
3. Armstrong, drag queen extraordinaire
2. The return of save-your-ass-at-the-last-minute Gumshoe, pal!
1. Xin Eohp and his creepy little Violetta

Armstrong is downright unsettling, period.

I kind of feel the same way about Gumshoe/Maggey and Gumshoe/Fran. I love Maggey and I love her with Gumshoe, but... well, I guess I can ship two pairings.
