As I was typing this entry, a package came unto me (and I had to have that awkward, "Hey, [real name], are you expecting a package for someone, last name Gordon?" conversation with the security guard), and lo, it was my Secret Pals present! It is the most awesome and epic; all others may go home and try it again, for nothing could be better.

1. If I could be anyone in the world, I would be T-Pain.

Cee Lo is, of course, a close second.

2. I'm feeling really low energy lately, particularly when it comes to fandom stuff. I'm half a season behind on Doctor Who, a season behind on Community, I haven't started Snuff or finished Ghost Story (and I am unspoiled for all these things but Community, so shhhh), I'm barely writing, and I just don't want to deal with any of it. It seems like work right now, and that's not right. I'm not going to make myself work to have fun.

All I seem to have energy for is non-fiction (non-fiction pleasure reading takes a lot less out of me than fiction, which I understand is somewhat strange) and craft-type projects. I made a nice shawl and drafted a cross stitch pattern, and I've been reading all kinds of books about paganism and kink. I finally, now that I have a driver's license for the state I actually live in, got a public library card, and it is very nice.

3. In that theme, however, I did watch Shut Up Little Man!, which is really something. It's playing up at my beloved local arthouse theatre (which also houses Rifftrax Live. You are jealous.), but it's playing during GMX, so I thought I'd miss it. But! It's on Comcast On Demand, so I merrily cross stitched and watched it from the comfort of my couch.

I strongly recommend it, if you don't mind rather a lot of obscenity and homophobia (from the subjects, not the filmmakers). It's funny and a little disturbing in places, and it raises some really interesting questions about privacy, art, and identity (without giving easy answers to any of them).

I was gonna say some stuff, but instead I spent all day playing Ace Attorney games. Y'all, I'm talking like all day, from about 2 this afternoon to about an hour ago.

I started with the last case of Investigations, which, y'all, is REALLY LONG. ( The vaguest of vague spoilers )

From there, I played 1-2 and most of 1-3 (1-1 was yesterday). Y'all, I miss these games and this fandom so much. I love my weird little lawyers. They do my heart so much good. I love all their little faces, and their questionable grasp of made-up law, and their silly little puns, and YOU GUYS I LOVE THEM SO. It is rare for me to go back to an old fandom and still be as in love with it as when I left.

Oh, Phoenix. Oh, Edgeworth. <3

1. Is it weird that Comedy Central's current commercials personally offend me? I mean, obviously it wouldn't be weird if they were offensive, but what's pissing me off is that they keep advertising Demetri Martin and Sarah Silverman together. And whereas Demetri Martin is a precious little elfin creature who is made of adorable and hilarious, Sarah Silverman is one of the most painfully unfunny people ever to be on the television. It pisses me off to hear them mentioned in the same advertisement!

No ads for Sarah Silverman are allowed during Assassins Anonymous. JSYK.

2. Okay, so, you have to help me and arymabeth out. So, we both have this vague memory of a scene from a (probably animated) TV show. These two guys are talking about a TV show ETA: (it would be helpful if I mentioned that the TV show in question was just a recording of shoes in a tumble dryer), and they have this exchange:

Guy 1: People actually watch this?
Guy 2: They don't just watch it. They send it money!

Anybody have any idea what we're talking about?

3. It may interest you to note that the DVR is mocking me. Ever since the last software update, the triple speed fast-forward, when you hit play, now goes about a minute backwards before it starts playback. I feel like it's mocking me. It's all "YOU MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME. GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN."

4. Dear flist: What do you think about this White Collar program I keep hearing so much about? Would I like it, do you think?

5. YOU GUYS. GYAKUTEN KENJI COMES OUT ON TUESDAY. OMG OMG OMG. Until then I will be mainlining NCIS and Blake's 7. And maybe writing the summary for 2.01 of Assassins Anonymous. Or maybe writing a Strange Brew crossover? IDK, IDK.

1. So I was reading a post-DADT fic. And I didn't like it very much, because Keller and John were fighting over Rodney, and John was acting like a sex kitten (which I have no problems with, but the story was too serious for it to work) and Keller was acting like a raging hosebeast to John. And I was thinking, "Damn, author, I know nobody liked her, but give the poor woman more credit than that."

And then it occurred to me that it was exactly how Keller would have reacted to the situation in canon.

And then I felt sad.

I really want fandom to fix Keller for me, because I never wanted to hate her. It just doesn't feel right to hate Jewel Staite. I really want her to be what she was obviously meant to be, and what she could have been if she'd been introduced three seasons earlier before the writing got so fucking ham-fisted.

2. Also? I want to read a post-DADT fic where John and Rodney come out, and everybody's being dicks to Rodney, and he thinks it's because they're all a bunch of dirty homophobes, but it turns out they're just pissed he stole John away before anybody else could.

3. I need Gyakuten Kenji, like, yesterday.

4. My little brother was in town when I went home last week, so I finally got to show him Jason Momoa and express that they look just alike (if my brother were a hundred pounds lighter and Hawaiian). I don't think he bought it, but I think he was secretly pleased, especially because he's dreading his hair at the moment (and it looks fucking AWFUL, but dreads take a long time).

(This is why I can't write Ronon porn.)

5. I started, like, three stories yesterday, and then couldn't bring any of them home. Hopefully today. The world needs Edgeworth/Sheppard.
