And so, we come to the lastest case of the Phoenix Wright trilogy. ::tear::

This case has, hands down, the best opening of any of them. It's just so pretty, and it really gets you set for the case to come. Bonus points for Ami Fey still being all in the middle of it.

I have to say that I found the opening sequence a little underwhelming on the first play through, because I spoiled myself for Elise's identity. I think it would have been a lot better if I hadn't known. I was busy looking for signs of recognition between Elise and Maya, and there, of course, are almost none.

It's hard not to like the characters in this case, aside from Dahlia, of course. Bikini is most accurately described as "a hoot." I had mixed feelings about Iris the first time around- I was convinced she was Dahlia long after I probably should have been. I also couldn't stand the Judge's brother, with or without his glorious playoff beard, but he's grown on me.

And of course, it must be mentioned: OMG WTF EDGEWORTH. OMG, YOU CAN FINALLY HEAR HIM SAY "TAKE THAT!" AND "HOLD IT!" AND HE'S WEARING PHOENIX'S BADGE, AND I DIE OF FANGIRL EVERY TIME I SEE IT. AND FRANZISKA IS MADE OF WIN AND HOT AND SEX AND WHIP.

To tell the honest truth, from a purely literary standpoint, I don't like the fact that you play as Edgeworth. I feel like there could have been a lot better exploration of his feelings upon finally, finally realizing his dream to follow in his father's footsteps. The reasons for him and Franziska coming back are kind of pastede on yey, in my book. I'm also not so hot on Larry showing up in this case. He's a convenient fit, but having him and Edgeworth there seems like an attempt to shoehorn in another chunk of their storyline just because this is the last case, when it has already essentially finished.

However, if you take the standpoint that this is a videogame, and the main purpose of videogames is, of course, to be fun, then it's brilliant.
