I am so bored, you guys. Lately has been a frenzy of hurry up and wait; I'm leaving for Guatemala in two weeks, and it's more or less all over but the packing and the worrying. Ugh.

On the bright side, I has a [personal profile] arymabeth, who has finally moved here! And as such, I has a Sabine and Lizzy Theatre!

[livejournal.com profile] arymabeth: ::looking at the warnings on these stories:: Dragons?
[personal profile] sabinetzin: Yeah, you know. Dragons.
[personal profile] arymabeth: Like, real dragons?
[personal profile] sabinetzin: Yeah, they breath fire, have scales?
[personal profile] arymabeth: I just didn't know if that was code for something.
[personal profile] sabinetzin: "What did you do last night?" "Dragons!"

::watching Mythbusters::
Adam: I got a cryptic message from Jamie. All he said was bring me a flammable perp, and dress for a fire.
[personal profile] sabinetzin: That's the same kind of messages Jamie leaves when it's a booty call.
[personal profile] arymabeth: That's why he's got condoms in his pocket. He wasn't sure.

Jamie: Stand back, I'm going hot.
[personal profile] sabinetzin: Also something Jamie says during a booty call.

[personal profile] arymabeth: ::looking at the Google Maps on her iPhone:: The Progressive Baptist Church.
[personal profile] sabinetzin: Lest you think it's more liberal, that's actually the Baptist church for Progressive insurance customers. Jesus saves!
[personal profile] arymabeth: Twenty percent!

[personal profile] arymabeth: This is our exciting night: sitting around, checking our credit reports.
[personal profile] sabinetzin: Wooo!

::watching Bender's Big Score::
[personal profile] arymabeth: ...I think he's about to have a sprunge-gasm.

This makes me happy in my soul. And possibly my degree. And definitely my pants.

This is sort of my second, as I went to Tikal when I was in field school (I was only in the country for a weekend, so it kind of doesn't count?). We're (my traveling companion and I) staying two nights in Antigua, and then we're going up to the highlands to stay with a host family for six weeks. Possibly there will be more traveling in there somewhere, but mostly it'll just be us hanging out, learning K'iche'.

Antigua is really beautiful--there's a restaurant there with amazing soup. Just ask somebody to direct you to the place where Bill Clinton ate. :-)

My in-laws lived in the Guatemalan highlands for four years--do you want any recommendations for must-see places or eats? Actually, you could PM me or email me, if you want to mine any of the Guatemalan info I have! I'm lallybroch01 at gmail dot com, if you're interested!
