2. Did I mention that I met the lovely bironic and deelaundry? They were lovely. We had a lovely time.

3. It occurred to me that both the phoneposts I posted on this most recent trip were posted incorrectly/late, etc, so here they are, in case you're into that type of thing.

4. Dude, it is TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND around here lately. I don't mean, like, just in fandom or anything; it seems like every other conversation I have these days is all "AND THEN I TOLD THAT BITCH SHE COULD GO TO HELL". People breaking up and getting married and stalking people and wanking at each other and god only knows what else.

And, for the record, I ain't done shit.

5. Have I explained to you that Whiskey needs to be a Kara and/or Saul vid, oh, yesterday? IT WOULD BE THE MOST PERFECT VID THAT EVER WAS VIDDED. FANDOM WOULD FALL TO ITS KNEES IN HONOR OF ITS PERFECTION. I CAN SEE IT IN MY BRAIN.

It, uh, is just kind of a shame that I can't vid.

6. I am all thrown off, because m'colleague and I went out for a beer after work, and consequently I ate at, like, four. My body is all confused. I think maybe the correct solution is to go back to writing.

ETA: 7. Did you ever just lose a story entirely? Because I swear to god I started the sequel to the vampire/thrall AU, and I can't find it for the life of me. WTF.

1. Sabine's Futile Quest To Vid, Day 2: So it turns out making clips is actually way easier than I thought; the way the AMVapp documentation describes it, I thought maybe I was going to have to sacrifice a chicken at the full moon or something. But now I have a new problem- what editing software do you use, vidders? I've tried WMM, and it makes me want to kill a baby in cold blood; I love love love Wax's interface, but it doesn't support audio playback on preview, which is really like putting a screen door on a submarine; I can't make heads or tails of Zwei-Stein.

Halp?

2. Is anybody up for giving me an alpha read on this story? It's a McShep AU; I'm mostly concerned about the viability of the premise and John's characterization. The part I have completed is ~1500 words; I think it's going to end up being about 4000 in all.

This update is brought to you by my reluctance to finish writing this section about the position of the indigenous intellectual vis a vis academic authority construction for my gigantic ass ethnography paper of death and publication. The jist of my argument, so far, is, "Look, I'm a queer female academic and even I don't want to talk about this."

My New Year's resolution (not that I actually make them, but it's a nice excuse) is to learn how to vid. All suggestions for tutorials, programs, sources, comms, etc. are highly sought. I've got a lot of experience (even like, actual real resume experience, omg) with sound editing, but none with video editing. It's like the one fannish thing I haven't done- except fanart, cause I quite literally could not draw if my life depended on it.

Mostly right now I want to make a vid of Sheppard tearassin' around the Pegasus Galaxy like the sneaky commando he is. Those are always my favorite bits.

Y'all, I have been reading SGA fic like it is my job. I'm near about to run out of stuff to read at Wraithbait (that isn't Sheppard/McKay, which I have not even started on, because, y'know, finals). Despite my initial burst of "OMGNO I cannot break up McKay+Zelenka," Zelenka is now my fandom bike. I have no idea how this happened. I blame the Sheppard/Zelenka writers.

Also, remind me I have to post a GIANT ASS RANT of RIGHTEOUS ANTHROPOLOGICAL FURY about the Athosians and how TPTB Did Not Do The Research. You do not get phenotypical differences that damn big in a society of fifty damn people, nor do women- not even really ridiculously hot women who could snap me in half- lead agricultural societies. Damn, people.

I've caught up on TBBT and House- mostly, because I haven't had time for this week's House yet. House is alternately pleasing me greatly and making me want to throw my remote through my television. ( General bitchery, S5 spoilers )

That being said? Most House/Wilson/Cuddy season ever, Y/MFY?
