sabinelagrande: (sga - we love booze)
1. Holy crap, I made [livejournal.com profile] metafandom. WTF?

2. I am in Fayetteville! With [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero! [livejournal.com profile] leiascully has been dragged away for the evening. I pine for her. But we have SGA! I have corrupted her thoroughly. Our favorite part may be the Lens Flare Credits of S2-5, and also Joe Flanigan's hair. And recently there was Potato Soup of Awesome. OMG, so full. It lives up to its name.

2a. Encourage [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero to write the Tao of Rodney smut she has threatened. It will be good for all involved. Esp. Rodney. And also me.

2b. PLANET BUTTSEX RIDES AGAIN.

(That's what she said.)

3. I think I'm gonna get into my Adamas now. I encourage this behavior.
sabinelagrande: (good will hunting - not about you)
1. [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero, [livejournal.com profile] leiascully: I was planning to show up in your neck of the woods on Wednesday and leave Sundayish, if you folks are amenable to that plan?

2. Not sure, at this juncture, if I'm going to have to bail on [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang. This is the same problem I encountered with [livejournal.com profile] house_bigbang this year- the deadlines fell right after I finished the semester. It was suicidal to work on them during finals, but if I leave it until afterwards, I'm so exhausted that all I want is to sit around and watch Stargate. I'm having the same problems with this story that I did with the one I intended for Big Bang, too. I keep planning out these intricate stories with, like, Themes and Messages and Angst and Actual Plots. I don't know why I keep thinking I can write like that, when the only story of substantial length in that style that I've ended up pulling off was Get Away, and I ended up hating that story. I don't know- I keep trying to write what I want to read, but it doesn't work. So instead I write a lot of porn and humor, which isn't very rewarding because it isn't hard at all.

Also, I feel like I'm losing my touch for writing House fic. House himself in particular, which is bad, because he's the POV character for like 5000 words of this story. And Cuddy- I don't have any clue whether Cuddy's in character anymore.

It's frustrating- but, I'm farther along than I was at this point with Big Bang, the word count is shorter, and they're letting people slide with 13000+ words for the final draft. I don't know; I'll give it a go again this afternoon, see if I can get another 2000 words or so done. Maybe if I lay down the frame story, it'll work better.

3. I don't really have another point; it's just that these entries seem too short without three points. Clearly, I need a coffee.

3a. Oh, right- last night at about 4AM I developed an elaborate scheme for how slash fans were just like the Tollan and het fans were just like the Tau'ri. I can't decide if it's brilliant or if it just seemed that way at 4AM.

(Multishippers are the Nox, obvs.)

Just think of it like Sabine and Lizzy Theatre )

PS: If you are on the facebooks, perhaps you would like to join Colonel Sadist's T. Rex Jamboree?
sabinelagrande: (sga - we love booze)
So, recently, I've gotten [livejournal.com profile] arymabeth totally addicted to SGA, and we've realized that there are really a lot of stories we'd like to see:

1. We want to read a story that has Woolsey/Weir, because they are fuckin' sophisticated as hell.

2. We want to read a story about the college that Rodney is on sabbatical from for the duration of the Atlantis Mission, preferably about his poor grad students.

They keep calling him, and whenever they get through (which is maybe once a year) he keeps banging the phone on the table and yelling "YOU'RE BREAKING UP."

3. We want to read a story where Ronon discovers police caution tape, and uses it to cordon off Teyla. And Weir. And possibly Sheppard.

Ronon doesn't like people touching his things.

Oh, you'd better believe there's more. )

But that's as far as we gotten.

This does not even include the things that we think are totally canon, like the fact that Daniel Jackson is the SGC's resident pot dealer, or the fact that Michael is the father of Teyla's baby ("Kanaan" is just some poor Athosian hybrid whose memory loss Teyla took advantage of).
sabinelagrande: (sga - for the lulz)
So the only good thing about the drama is that everybody is popping up on my flist to share big squishy (I just typed squicky, that would be v. different) declarations of love for each other, and that is excellent.

I love my fandoms. I love my commenters. I love my flist. You guys are what brightens my day. I probably check my flist like every fifteen minutes. And, y'know, I try to respond to every comment I get, but, y'know, I'm in grad school, and sometimes it just doesn't happen. Them's the breaks. And I respond to comments in random, non-chronological order or in increasing order of complexity or two weeks later, and it has nothing to do with anything.

(Except those weird comments you just get some times, like that crazy bitch who reviewed every single piece of my Spike/Faye [livejournal.com profile] 30kisses fic, and every single comment had the word "SEXY" in all caps, even when it was like angst and chardeath and gen and shit- but those are significantly less common on LJ than they were back when my standards were low enough to post at ff.net. So like, I reply to all the literate people. But that's like almost everybody.)

I do get sad and upset when I post and don't get a lot of comments- but until very recently, a lot of comments has meant, like, ten. I still get a little frisson from each and every comment notification that winds up in my inbox, even if it's just a smiley face (keep your frowny faces to your damn selves). You don't have to comment- I sure as hell don't, not nearly as much as I should, because I am v. awkward, though I tag and favorite things obsessively- but it's nice, because I totally get off on making people happy. Let me make you happy.

And now, I've made everyone slightly uncomfortable and am never going to get another comment again.

Look, the point is, my motto in life is that fandom is fucking funny, and if fandom's not fun for you, the problem's probably with you and not them. Or hell, maybe your fandom really is a bunch of assholes and you'd be like a billion times better off without them, in which case the problem is- yes- still with you, cause you're the dumbass who cares what strangers on the internet who don't like you think.

You should care what the strangers on the internet who do like you think, because, duh, they like you. Let them like you.

But I think if you're just generally chill and in it for the good times, fandom's pretty all right.
sabinelagrande: (sga - z is for zelenka)
You know what makes me happy? Con videos on youtube!

And speaking of cons, all these epic emails I keep getting from mah fangirls about Dragon*Con (wherein we will, apparently 1) have an orgy 2) chase people around with nets 3) become like unto ever Mulder/Scully fic ever) amuse me to no end.
sabinelagrande: (gs - WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE)
This may be of interest to [livejournal.com profile] leiascully, [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero, [livejournal.com profile] zhukora1, [livejournal.com profile] commodoremarie, [livejournal.com profile] solarwind, [livejournal.com profile] readiness, and anybody going to SDCC or Dragon*Con.

...I find it inexplicably amusing that those are the two most convenient cons for me to go to. I guess I'm technically just as close to Chicago Comic-Con as to Dragon*Con, but I'll still be in California then.

Schedule now )
sabinelagrande: (sga - we're cool like that)
Apropos of nothing, here are a few pictures I took with my cell phone and forgot to post.

Who's got two thumbs and is a total geek? )

[livejournal.com profile] arymabeth and I are having a fantabulous weekend, even though we, uh, never actually made it to the con, us being way too goddamned lazy and the highway being partially closed. I have thoroughly corrupted her to the cause of SGA (Ronon gives her a little bit of a situation, it's true), just as I am slowly corrupting everyone I know.

Too bad I can't be this effective for shows that are actually, y'know, still on the air. Whatever, we're keeping the home fires burning.

And I may go to Dragon*Con? Because I was kinda halfway planning to anyway, because I've been trying to go for years and it's never worked out. But now it's only four hours away, and I don't have a broken foot this year. But dude, seriously? Why is Dragon*Con more expensive than SDCC (for which I need to buy my plane ticket today)?

DEAR FLIST:

Me and [livejournal.com profile] arymabeth are drunk and watching SGA.

You should rec her some John/Ronon, because it will make her head explode.

This is an awfully well-spelled post for a drunk post.

Love,
[livejournal.com profile] sabinelagrande.
